Sickening Sixth ACC Loss For Tar Heels

After a sixth ACC loss, UNC coach Roy Williams could see all the ways the game went wrong for the Tar Heels.

The 92-71 loss to the Maryland Terrapins was a miserable affair, as the Terps took care of the ball with a 2-to-1 assist/turnover ratio.  The Tar Heels notched 14 assists, but turned the ball over just as many times.  UNC allowed Maryland to shoot better than 50% from beyond the three-point arc, while Carolina shot just 37.7% from the floor and 66% at the free throw line.

Maryland star Greivis Vasquez put on a show, tallying 26 points and 11 assists, knocking down six three-pointers.  Marcus Ginyard led the Tar Heels in scoring with 17 points despite a 5-of-13 performance from the field.  Coach Williams says the Tar Heels need to help themselves if they want to break out of their funk.

UNC will look to stop the bleeding this Wednesday at the Dean Smith Center, when the Tar Heels host the Duke Blue Devils at 9 p.m.  WCHL will hold a special hour-long Countdown to Tip-Off live from Four Corners sports bar starting at 7 p.m.  You won’t want to miss it.
