By WCHL NewsA Pittsboro judge overseeing the Andrew Young/Rielle Hunter case says a security officer must be present when Young retrieves the original sex tape of his ex-boss, former Senator John Edwards.
On Friday, Andrew Young and His wife Cheri were found to be in civil contempt of Chatham County’s court by the same judge Abraham Penn Jones. Jones amended Friday’s contempt order late Sunday night after becoming concerned that the initial contempt order didn’t protect against copies being made from the original tape.
During Friday’s hearing, it was disclosed that the requested items were in different locations. A copy of the former Senator and his then-mistress Rielle Hunter having sex on tape has been turned over a FBI agents, the original is in Atlanta, and several pictures of Hunter’s daughter with Edwards have been saved on a laptop located in Raleigh.
The revised order instructs Young to be accompanied by a security officer when he pulls the original from a safe-deposit box in Atlanta. A security officer has been hired from Raleigh-based Risk Management Associates. Another officer from the same firm will be dispatched to the Young’s Raleigh home to remove pictures of Edwards and Hunter’s daughter from a laptop.
The Pittsboro judge told the Youngs if they did not turn requested videotapes and pictures over to the Orange County Courthouse in Hillsborough, they would go to jail. They have until 2 p.m. Wednesday.
