Orange County Stable In Unemployment

The newest unemployment numbers were released Wednesday, and Orange County is still faring well. The latest numbers from December show the county’s unemployment rate of 6.2-percent is still the lowest in the state. The national numbers tell a different story. The data shows an increase in the unemployment rate from December to January.

The jobless rate went up from 10.9 percent to 11.1.

North Carolina remains above the national unemployment rate of 9.7 percent. Even with the increased unemployment percentage, the state added more than 8,325 orkers in the trade, transportation and utility sectors.
