Steve Wright, public art coordinator for Chapel Hill, says the collection of sculptures that has been cropping up around town is part of an annual program to beautify public spaces.

From last fall through this spring, the public art department has been installing this year’s selections for Sculpture Visions 2009-2010.

The ten pieces chosen reflect a wide variety of artistic styles and media, including wood, steel, stoneware and inflatable balls. They are installed in locations all across town, from the Seymour Center to Southern Village.

Wright says the program, which has been running since 2004, enriches the lives of both artists and citizens.

For more details on the Sculpture Visions series, visit the town’s web site at www.townofchapelhill.org.
