Tar Heels Increase Their Confidence

Roy Williams says increased confidence is just one of the factors that have helped Carolina establish momentum heading into Saturday’s game against Duke.

Carolina travels to Durham to play the Duke Blue Devils Saturday.  If UNC wins and Maryland beats Virginia, the Heels will keep Duke from winning the ACC regular season and bump them from the #1 seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament.

As it’s been all season, Carolina has been hampered this week because of injuries. Williams said some of this week’s practices have had the most missing players all season. Deon Thompson continues to have problems with his back muscles and Will Graves has worn an ankle boot since Tuesday night’s game. Graves has sprained his ankle multiple times in the past few weeks. His status for the game is questionable.

Carolina has won four straight games at Cameron Indoor Stadium and would like to make it five. Williams says to do that, it’ll take extreme concentration.

In addition to hurting Duke’s chances to seal the number 1 seed in the ACC tournament, UNC can improve its own seeding. Game time is 9 p.m. WCHL will have live pre-game coverage starting at 7 p.m. live from Four Corners on Franklin Street.
